Steep sections, bush margins and kauri country — worked by a crew that lives here.

Tree Services in the Waitākere Ranges

Nowhere else in Auckland asks as much of a tree crew. Sections drop away at angles that rule out machinery, driveways are single-lane and often shared, the clay holds water for weeks after rain, and the westerly comes through with nothing in the way to slow it down. On top of all that sits kauri, and the hygiene requirements that come with working anywhere near them.

Our team handles tree services in the Waitākere Ranges as home ground. We know which driveways a truck will not get up, which slopes need the gear walked in, and how to plan a removal when the drop zone is somebody's roof or a stand of regenerating bush. Free assessment, written quote, and a straight view on what the tree actually needs — including the times when the honest answer is that it needs nothing at all.

Kauri and Dieback Precautions

If you have kauri on your section — and out here a great many people do — hygiene is not optional. The pathogen behind kauri dieback moves in soil and surface water, so a boot, a barrow or a digger bucket carrying dirt from another property is a genuine transmission route. Our crews clean gear down between sites and plan access to keep foot traffic and machinery off the root zone, which extends well past the edge of the canopy.

It is also worth being clear about consent. Kauri are protected, and removal generally requires approval from Auckland Council regardless of how unwell the tree looks. That process takes time and is not something to start the week you want the tree gone. Our kauri dieback page covers what symptoms to look for, what you can do to protect healthy trees, and when removal genuinely becomes the right answer.

Waitākere Tree Work

Titirangi, Laingholm, Waiatarua, Piha, Bethells, Huia and the surrounding foothills. If your driveway is questionable, tell us — we would rather know before the truck arrives.

Tree removal

Roped, sectional removals on steep and bush-clad sections where machinery cannot reach and nothing can simply be dropped. Tree removal.

Storm and hazard work

Hung-up limbs, split trunks and trees leaning on structures after a westerly. Prioritised, because these rarely stay where they are. Emergency tree care.

Section clearing

Regrowth, scrub and self-seeded exotics cleared back off driveways, building platforms and boundary lines without disturbing what you want to keep. Land clearing.

Stump grinding

Below-grade grinding on sloped and root-bound ground, planned around kauri root zones and whatever services run underneath. Stump grinding.

Steep Access and Bush-Clad Sections

Access is the thing that most often surprises people about the cost of tree work out here. A removal that would be half a day on a flat suburban section becomes a full day when every piece of timber has to be carried up eighty metres of steps, or when the chipper cannot get past the second bend in the drive.

We scope that properly during the quote rather than discovering it on the day. Sometimes the answer is a smaller machine, sometimes it is rigging material down to a lower collection point, and occasionally it is a crane over the top from the road. Whichever it is, you will know before you commit — and you will know which parts of the price are the tree and which are the terrain.
